Jack Reacher Never Go Back Review

Jack Reacher Never Go Back is the follow up to the 2012 action movie staring Tom Cruise in the title role. It is now available on iTunes and On Demand. Here is the reviews

When caught up in a government conspiracy former Military Intelligence officer Jack Reacher (Tom Cruise) must uncover the truth to protect himself and Major Turner (Cobie Smulders). Whilst on the run from the law, the military and assassins, Reacher learns secrets about his past that could change his life forever.

Sometimes you get surprise action hits like John Wick that has a very standard plot but some awesome action sequences, or The Accountant where there is a clever plot with action mixed in. Then you get Jack Reacher Never Go Back. I expected this movie to be a fun action movie given the success of Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible but this completely misses the mark. It has a paint by numbers story that involves a Military conspiracy involved with Weapons contractors, where it is so easy for people to just be killed of that its unbelievable. If this movie did not take itself so seriously then perhaps it would be fun but it feels like they are trying to make a serious drama. Cobie Smulders tries hard in this movie, as does Cruise but there is no chemistry between them that would make anyone believe in their relationship.

The first Jack Reacher had some cool action sequences but was not a memorable movie. The sequel is completely forgettable. With a boring plot, bland action and zero chemistry between characters this movie shows that this franchise should never go back.

Jack Reacher scores a 40% and an F
