November Monthly Snapshot

This was a bit of a quiet month for me in terms of seeing new movies. I started a new job so I didn’t have as much free time, plus there wasn’t as strong of a selection as I would have liked. Though I did see Justice League multiple times to really get an understanding of the movie, and in some regards I am glad that I did, but there are definitely films I am sad I missed. Maybe I will make up for it in December. With all that out of the way, here are the movies I reviewed in November 2017 ranked from highest to lowest.

I cannot explain the impact this movie had on me. I was expecting an interesting biopic but what I got was so much more. To me this was one of the best romance movies I have seen in a long time, especially since it was an unconventional romance between a couple and their lover. It also offered a fascinating insight into the development on one of pop cultures greatest female icons, Wonder Woman.

I got hooked by the marketing for this movie along with the incredible cast that the film boasted. I had not read the book so I had no idea who the killer was, which made the movie all the more fun. I believe that the way the movie was shot elevated the experience of seeing Murder on the Orient Express on the big screen, with the cinematography utilising different angles to view the characters in a confined space. As much as I really enjoyed the film I found it to be lacking in the third act as the story wraps up a little too neatly for my liking. That being said it is a fun murder mystery that the audience will enjoy playing along with.

So I saw this movie 3 times in the cinema. On first view I thought I liked it but thought there was a lot wrong with it. The second time I tried to ignore the films many problems and had a fun time. The third I was so bored I fell asleep. I think there is definitely some good in the film, which is why I gave it a positive score but ultimately the film is a mess. I can see why comic book fans enjoyed this film but I can definitely understand why it is failing at the box office. It is a real shame since this was on my most anticipated list of the year.
